Background
The Age with Dignity Research Centre is unique in its focus on conducting interdisciplinary
research, development of innovative technological solutions and implementation science, to
foster healthier lives.
Globally, our Centre is aligned with and will contribute to the initiative “Decade of Healthy
Ageing (2021–2030)”, developed by the United Nations General Assembly and led by the World
Health Organization. Recognizing the complexities related to aging and bringing in change at
various levels, the Decade of Healthy Ageing is a global collaboration bringing together
governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media and the
private sector for 10 years of concerted, catalytic and collaborative action to improve the lives of
older people, their families and communities.
Locally, the Age with Dignity Research Centre is unique. Although there are other research
centres/institutes on aging, our strength and relative advantage is in deliberately designing and
conducting interdisciplinary research on aging; developing innovative technological and social
solutions; exploring the role of technology in seniors’ lives as both a risk and protective factor;
using policy and evidence-informed practice from implementation science, to maximize our
research impact, and community-driven research and innovation in establishing strong
partnerships with communities both to inform research and to effectively mobilize the emerging
research evidence.
